They’ve done extensive outreach to further breast cancer prevention in creative ways like hopping on Warped Tour & doing casts of famous ladies breasticles & auctioning them off. We’ve worked together once before when I dj’ed one of their Warped Tour parties & had a BLAST.

Interview with C Spencer Yeh musician & animator of Deerhoofs latest video “Buck and Judy” from their latest record Offend Maggie out on Kill Rock Stars:
The short of it is that I had been friends with members (both past and
present) of Deerhoof for a while, just a lot of synchroncities. For
their new record they were inviting a variety of friends to create
videos for every song. Marisa from Four Paws Media, who does press
for them, was also working with this band I have Burning Star Core at
the time, and had made the initial connection to make it happen.

This post is dedicated to ladies I love in my life. I was going thru flickr photostream and I got inspired…
This is my girlfriend Andy’s room. When I first met her it was when I walked into the office of Radio1190 around 10+ years ago. I was so curious about her life, she seemed so interesting to me. There were times when I imagined her getting ready to go out after a conversation I had with one of her roommates about what it was like to live with her.
She seemed to have some magical life that was so out of reach from my perspective. It took some time for us to get to know each other & also erase memories that other people had put on top peeling away for us to feel each other instead of circumstances/clubs/ situations. Just us.
We both ended up working in parallel words (and together @ Fanatic Promotion) and our love of music became more of our life and now it’s safe to say we work in the “industry” of music even tho it’s probably the last thing you will ever heard coming out of our mouths. With that in mind knowing that she’s out there, more than surviving but living and existing in these spaces while I do my thing and our paths do cross makes me so happy. Miss A.T.L. I salute you.
Last night I went to the Kimmel show for the second time. The last show I saw was on their cockfueled adventures of Eagles of Death Metal. This time MSTRKRFT was slated to perform along with rumbles & rumors of other people. It turned out Noreaga & Isis accompanied them onstage…the latter whom I hadn’t seen since she was slated to perform at my SXSW party in 2007 in Thunderheist. I kept my cameraphone closed once we hit the green room cause the signs politely told you not to but I promise you the imaginary photos of the banana samosas & sweet potato fries looked ravishing. I got a few afterwards…don’t you love my photo skillz?
The green room is alway an adventure of exhaustion mixed with ego & pure indifference. Okay I don’t really mean that the Green Room is a land of aplenty! But honestly this Green Room was fun I think Kimmel is just smart as fuck or someone working for him his. The catering was good, the place was laid out right and they had pinball machines…okay they weren’t plugged in but WHATEVER! They were there. Overall it was relaxing…the bartender was very nice & wanted me to drink. Wait…maybe that’s his job.
Either way once we got carted out to see the band we heard a quick soundcheck and it was refreshing to hear sounds over friggen million dollar soundsystem (I’m totally ballparking that number). I’ve gotten so used to shitty when I actually heard beats properly displayed I got PSYCHED. The video is below and you can see me slap the air around 2:47…and in the start (on the left) giving a double chaka brah*. XOXOXO!
*Yes it’s “Chaka Brah” instead of “Shaka Brah” because I believe in the Church of Chaka (I feel for you)
TICKETS ON SALE HEREJust got the headsup from Ghostly peeps telling me about their 10 year anniversary here in LA WHAT!? Ten years since Sam Valenti sat amongst 12″s piled to the ceiling in his Ann Arbor dorm room and said “This is gonna happen dammit”. Don’t quote me on that last part I totally made it up (not the 12″ piles tho). Sam has been nothing but nice to me times ten esp that time in Vegas where he introduced me to some kid @ a magazine (Fader?) very kindly and they completely ignored me because they hate girls who dj. Ok I may be making that part up too…but not the part where they looked right thru me like I was invisible paper mache: TRUE. C’mon bitches does it hurt to do a handshake?
