Last time I saw DJ Frane we were at the Beat Swap Meet kickin back at the bar while I lied about how much I spent buying records (I said I spent less).  This Wednesday he’ll be putting some some serious vinyl (yea I said it…VINYL) onto the magical turntables (he makes them magical) and taking us into a serious 5 hour eclectic journey where we’ve never been before (I guarantee this).  It’ll be a land of fewer parenthesis (I swear) and more exclamation points.  Here’s a couple

Last Friday while LA got it’s rain on and I laid in bed with a case of just being a woman my friend’s new store launched a Cheap Monday/WKND pop up shop in the Choose Chinatown space (in where else, Chinatown). When I first moved to LA the cats at Welcome Hunters were the first people approached and said the words “Do you want a DJ?” I hesitated using this question in this town for many reasons a few being I didn’t come to LA to be just a DJ and get into some magical invisible and constantly rotating scene. I wanted a life with good food, movies & cuddling. Lately which I’ve been doing lots of (and yes, another added reason why Friday night probably didn’t see me).  Either way I saw their flyer for the night they were doing at the Mountain Bar a year or so ago and we ended up connecting and they liked what I played and for about 6 months straight I was djing their parties along with the cats from Lion’s Den.

Last weekend the friends n shopowners Lion’s Den & Welcome Hunters came together to host & create the Cheap Monday & WKND concept store for the next two seasons…

Ran into (& met for the first time) Mr. Dj Renato at the Beat Swap Meet. I dug around the swap meet for a couple hours, found some bass & got a testosterone headache by the end (and spent a little over what I had planned). He was selling some boogie/soul & some hip hop upstairs. Either way he’s going to be at Funky Sole this SATURDAY which has moved itself to the Echoplex now.

I’m a snoop. Let’s make this clear. Or an internet sleuth. Choose which, or a variation of both. Either way last week in an array of firefox tabs I found my way to this night. The one above. Okay…this one: Killing Spree. I was curious. Friends of friends…of internet friends. And human fleshly friends. I trust and imagine the content to be very good. But since I don’t know them personally I can only hope the vibes are inviting and no LA bullshit (please). So I’ll probably go and enjoy the sounds…cause this is pretty much up my alley times ten. Oh and they added me today on myspace so we’re totally bffs now. Right? Here’s the venue’s yelp details: MEDUSA.

Almighty Opp is a puppet troupe…they are performing in my neighborhood on Friday. Franken’s is a vegan hot dog stand that handed me free chips while some Hollywood hairhooker called me a FAT i.e. he will always live on in my heart. Two days ago I literally said to my honey “I need to find a puppet show to go see,” and he said something like “What kind?” and I said “AN AWESOME ONE AND I WILL FIND IT.” I can’t vouch that I said it exactly like that but anyway this appeared and the button feels threaded and sewn.
